I’m very excited to post the first of the individual interviews from the new survey! If you are someone who hires librarians and would like to take it, please follow the link on the participate page.
This anonymous interview is with an Academic librarian from a city/town in the Western US who has been a hiring manager and a member of a hiring or search committee at a library with 0-10 staff members.

How does what a candidate wears affect your hiring decision?
It gives me a sense of how much they care about getting the position. As much as we hate to admit it, we do rely partially on clothing for first impressions, and if someone does not appear to have made an effort to dress properly, than that would affect my decision to hire them.
